PostSubject: Shades of Midnight: Demon Hunting   Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:02 pm

Leo walked slowly through the large abandoned house. The sound of rain pattered against the windows, broken occasionally by the loud cracking of thunder. As the lightning outside illuminated the hall, he caught a movement at the end of the hall. He drew his guns as a door closed quickly. He ran to it and tried to open it, but to no avail. The door was locked tight. He sighed and lit a smoke, thinking back to the contract he'd received.

Check out an old villa at the edge of the city. There have been reports of strange incidents in and around the area. The investigator we sent hasn't returned, and we'd like to ascertain if the investigator is in fact alive, and what's causing the disturbance. Report back to us and we'll send your pay.

Thanks for your co-operation.

He'd been receiving these letters for a while, doing these odd jobs. He didn't mind it too much as the pay was good and most of these jobs were up his alley. He took a long drag on his smoke, and pondered what to do next.

Massimo slowly limped up behind Leo and fell to his knees. His wounds were causing him great amounts of pain. Just one of the setbacks of being a human devil hunter. He winced from the pain and then poked the back of Leo's leg. "You my backup?" Massimo then realized the physical appearance of Leo. "Woah. I thought I saw everything weird."

"Well..."
Leo exhaled, sending a large cloud of smoke to the ceiling, "I see that you're still alive. That's part of my job done."
He took another drag of his smoke, then looked down at Massimo, "Couldn't handle it, huh? Let's patch you up then."
He pulled out a small vial of liquid, then tossed it to Massimo's feet.
"Drink it up."

Massimo looked down at the vial. He picked it up and looked at it. He had never seen anything like it before. The thunder cracked once again in the background. "I'm not drinking this until you tell me what it is."

Leo stared at the small, fancily gilded vial in Massimo's hand, and the milky white liquid within.
"Truth is, I have no idea. It's saved my life on more then one occasion. They call it a vita phialam."
Leo walked past him and looked down the hall.
"So, what messed you up so bad? Looks like someone worked you over a bit too hard."
He smirked as he stared into the darkness. He drew Luce and Ombra, pointing them into the shadows. Lightning streaked across the sky, and it started raining harder.

Massimo drank from the vial and right away felt his energy returning. He stood up with his usual excited cocky manor. "I don't even know. It was like something I've never seen before. It jumped between the shadows and struck from behind like a coward. It too was as dark as the abyss so I could not see it too well in the shadows."

"Okay. That doesn't help much."
Leo dropped his smoke on the ground and stomped on it with his well-polished heel. He straightened his long overcoat and glanced over at Massimo.
"Nice weather, huh?"
A Sin Scythe flew at him, and he shot it in the face. He tilted his head slightly as the scythe flew past him and lodged in the wall, he shot at it and the bullet bounced off of it and broke the door knob on the door he was trying to open.

Massimo nodded. "Well done." Massimo walked forward, the floor creaking underneath each step. He peered in through the doorway closely looking at each shadowy corner. He didn't want whatever attacked him to sneak up on him again. He walked into the room. It was a badly lit study. A chair was staring at a fireplace. For some reason it seemed not right. "Hey, what do you think of this room?"

"Nah. This smells like fish," Leo looked back and smiled, "and I know all about fish."
He pointed his gun at the chair and fired, hurtling it into the fireplace, causing the fire to roar. A group of sin scissors appeared and rushed at the duo. Leo jumped at them and fired, killing a few of them. He then drew his blade and slashed at a group of them, causing them to explode into black ash. He pointed his sword at one and it slowed to a crawl. He walked over to it put a bullet through it.
"Easy as pie," then a scythe stabbed through Leo's chest.

"Shit!" Massimo yelled. He looked back and saw a sin scythe at the other end of the room. Massimo ran at Leo, who he thought was dead, and yanked out the scythe and hurtled it at the sin scythe. It smoothly dodged the scythe. Massimo then took out his two guns and pointed them at the sin scythe. He shot one a few bullets with the left gun at a metal plate on display in the corner of the room. The angle caused the bullets to ricochet into the sin scythe. "Half of everything is luck." He then turned around. "And the other half." He used his right gun to fire behind him killing the sin scythe with five more bullets. "Fate." He then began reloading his guns.

"OW!"
Leo watched as the wound closed.
"This bastard wrecked my shirt! God Damn!"
Leo frowned, "I'm going to kill EVERY LAST ONE of these bastards! And then I'm going to burn down this thrice damned house!"
Leo kicked his guns back into his hands and started shooting. Shell casing littered the floor and everything in the room was destroyed.
"Damn!"

Massimo ducked under the hail storm of bullets. After the chaos had ended he stood up and looked at Leo. "Alive?! You're a fucking demon!" He then pointed his guns at Leo. "It was scum like your kind that made my miserable life!"

"Scum like blah blah. Story of my life. I'm the one they sent to save your miserable life. If you don't like me, I can put you back the way I found you. Also, I'm not here to take your shit. Complain to the company if you have a problem."
Leo shoved Massimo, "Get a grip!"

Massimo shot a bullet passed Leo's head. "My parents are dead and I lost my free will all because of demons." Massimo lowered his gun. A familiar voice came from his sword. "Calm down or I'll take over." Massimo then pushed his sword under his trench coat. "Shut up..."

"Talking sword? Ha ha ha, rich. I knew a talking sword. It had a big eye on it and wanted souls."
Leo yawned and shook his head.
"Your sob story bores me. Let's wrap this up. I'm gonna get drunk after this," he walked back into the hall and started trying other doors, to no avail.
